So when the Queensland Government asked their agency, Khemistry, to put together the advertising materials for the Taste Farm Life program it made perfect sense that LJ got the call.

TALENT: Todd MacDonald

Popular Aussie actor Todd MacDonald is a consummate professional with a script in hand. That’s why the experienced star of the stage and TV is widely sort to voice commercial announcements and videos.

During iso times the resourceful performer built his own home sound studio at his inner-Brisbane Queenslander. He customed the booth using remnants of set materials saved from his days of running a local theatre company.

Needless to say, when the people behind the walk through videos for Mazda’s luxurious CX-60 entrusted Todd with the lines for their production, he was very much at home.

TALENT: Damien Garvey

Accomplished Australian actor Damien Garvey has been a regular presence on television screens for more than 20 years.

The award winning artist might be best remembered for his roles on the ABC’s TV series Rake, and Harrow – or his earlier performances on Underbelly, Water Rats, Young Lions and Mcleod’s Daughters to name a few. Damien’s renowned versatility means he has the ability to play a wide variety of characters.

So it’s not surprising to learn the experienced performer is regularly cast to voice national TV commercials, like the new spots released for Volkswagen’s Amorok V6 Walkinshaw Series.

During ad breaks, you might also hear Damien as the voice behind the Oz Lotto commercials.

In recent times Damien has been keeping busy filming “Troppo” for the ABC, in the role of Roy Gilpin, a North Queensland CEO of a Deep Sea Mineral Mining Company. He was also cast in Peacock’s production of Joe Vs Carole – playing the dubious Doc Antle.

Damien is currently appearing as The British East India Company’s, Director Crawley, in Disney’s “Nautilus”, a ten-part television series about the origin of Captain Nemo.

It’s been such an eventful year he says his head hurts. But the show must go on!

TALENT: Ross Newth

PRODUCTION: Josh Newth, Freelance Audio/Sound Designer

Back in 2015 Ross Newth’s son Josh asked if Ross could voice the part of ‘Narrator Man’ for a Three Little Pigs audio story he was creating for his daughter, Tess.

As one of Brisbane’s most accomplished voice talents, and a doting grandfather, Ross jumped at the chance.

Tess enjoyed listening to the recording so much Josh created four more audio stories and called them ‘Tess’s Tales’. However, it was very soon after that Ross’s grandson Olly came along, and he too began listening in. Tess’s Tales would ultimately morph into the family’s Fun Fables.

Word of the recordings grew. Josh began playing these stories to family and friends with overwhelming positive feedback. And, in 2020, Josh decided to release them as a podcast.

Each week the podcast expanded. Five episodes became ten, then ten became fifteen. And now, with hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, there is a new Fun Fables episode released each week.

Fun Fables has now hit well over one million downloads. In fact the podcast is so popular it has its own website where visitors can access each episode and purchase special Fun Fables merchandise.

The stories are beautifully written and have a positive moral theme for the kids and Mums and Dads to think about. And there’s always plenty of fun and some modern-day twists on the old traditional stories.

From Ross’s point of view, the project has given him so much joy. He’s quite fond of his new moniker too: the ‘Narrator Man.
